For Orio, the future arrived last week.

In an effort to fuel their ever-expanding global reach, Orio, the exclusive supplier of Saab Original parts, unveiled the FutureLAB, an innovation platform for workshops and vehicles, at the 2016 Automechanika Trade Fair in Frankfurt, Germany.

Though development has not yet been completed, Orio decided to unveil their much anticipated project at Automechanika to showcase what’s in store for future members and customers.

“It is my hope that within one year, Orio FutureLAB will release a product that links together the car with the workshop. A solution that transforms Orio FutureLAB’s members into customers,” said Ola de Freitas, an Orio employee who runs FutureLAB. “I also hope to have new services on stream that will make it easier and more profitable to run a workshop. I see considerable future potential for Orio FutureLAB,” said Freitas.

The Orio FutureLAB fit perfectly into Automechanika’s theme of “Tomorrow’s Service & Mobility,” and will make it possible to:

  • Receive reports and informative newsletters
  • Pass offers on to customers
  • Take part in market and product tests
  • Make the most of training opportunities
  • Play an active role and have a real influence on the industry

“As an innovative supplier of spare parts, and in line with our strategy, we offer an unique opportunity to participate in the development of the future independent workshop, and we want to invite both new and existing customers, which is why we are featuring an insight into Orio’s FutureLAB at our Automechanika stand”, says Johan Formgren, Deputy CEO and Head of Marketing, IT, and Engineering at Orio.

The world’s largest European trade fair for the automotive industry, Automechanika brings parts manufacturers, industry-leading retailers, and various experts together for a week of workshops, demonstrations, and networking. The 2016 Trade Fair saw over 136,000 visitors and 4,820 exhibitors from 76 countries.

As part of their Automechanika demonstrations, Orio also showcased their “future workshop” in virtual reality, where goggle-wearing visitors were encouraged to join interactive training in a virtual classroom. The week at Orio’s booth also featured live music, a Swedish Fika (the American equivalent of a coffee break), and press conferences about the future of Orio.
